Mod Post Major change to the rule 5

So recently the other mods and I have been discussing the rule 5 and what would fall under it, initially the rule was meant to avoid controversial topics to make it easier for us to moderate and keep things civil specifically religion and politics.

The issue is specially with the increase in the mod team it started being used to remove anything that could be deemed in any way controversial or political, which included things like discussing lgbtq+ topics, topics about gender, race, etc. which we did not feel was fair, what one defines as being "controversial" can end up being influenced by the mods own biases and discomforts, so from now on we agreed that instead of removing anything controversial we will only be removing posts and comments specifically about politics and not political subjects themselves.

Discussions about social issues are allowed. Discussion about political parties, politicians, elections, legislation, government policy, or religion is not.

Just to make it clear what this means, a person can now hate how queer people are perceived, hate misandry or misogyny, etc.
What you cant do is hate on any demographic or talk about these topics through a political lense itself, hating transphobia itself its fine, hating transphobic parties, politicians, etc is not.

Keep in mind that if a topic becomes too prevalent in this sub it might get restricted just like we did with TADC for example, and if a post becomes a particular headache to moderate it might get locked(comments wont be able to be posted), the nature of moderating a subreddit with as broad a topic as ours dictates some level of flexibility when dealing with these topics and a case by case analysis of them. In a same way punishments will range depending the level of the infraction as they always have.

Additionally rule 1 and 2 are still a thing and should be followed, if in the example i gave above a commenter went to say transphobic talking points in the comments or attack the demographic itself, they will get banned.

If you previously had a post removed under Rule 5 for discussing a general social issue, don't assume it would still be removed under this version of the rule. Many posts that were previously removed under Rule 5 would now be allowed, so please don't let past experiences with the old version shape your expectations of the new one.

Also this rule change has happened 2 days ago but we only got to making the announcement post today.

Idea “Zombie fiction never existed in this universe!” When zombie media refuses to use the word “Zombie”

Thumbnail
gallery
2.5k Upvotes

Why is this the go-to excuse almost EVERY single time they want to call different variations of zombies different things and avoid the word “zombie?” You mean to tell me in the MILLENNIA humans have existed, not a SINGLE person has ever had the idea of a dead body getting up and walking around? That’s ridiculous and the logic falls apart once you think about it for more than 10 seconds. Maybe it’s just a me thing but I just cannot ignore how illogical that feels, It’s not even necessarily a bad thing to try to avoid the word “zombie” in favor of cooler sounding things, but it feels like whenever stories do this it’s just an extremely lazy excuse to sound cool and edgy like “This is the reason, now shut up”

General How people treat old movie props.

I'm sure many people have seen images of rotting movie props in videos or on google, but I feel like it's getting too common for props to be rotting away because people don't care for it. It's really disrespectful and i'm glad people are restoring some of them and i hope more people would do that.

Art & Fanworks I hate when beginner artists are so delusional

Post image
915 Upvotes

I have seen so many ppl with bad art like the image above and they are like I'm selling art and I'm starting at like 300$. And they are being dead serious and insulting ppl in the comments calling ppl who say it's overpriced broke and talentless.Like no ur art just isn't good and u need to stop being delusional.

And then I hate the other commenters who just lie straight to their faces calling 300$ for this too cheap or that it's 100% worth it. And u know deep down these guys would be completely silent and wouldn't pay a dollar when asked to buy it. They just like virtue signaling to try and act like good ppl.

Non-fictional I hate transmisandry

Post image
Upvotes

(If you don't know, transmisandry is discrimination against transmasc people.)

I see a lot of people rejecting the idea that transmasc people exist and discriminating against them. Most of the people I see are chasers for transfems perpetuating this opinion, but I see transfem people also do it as well. I dont get HOW transfems can do this because transmasc people go through the EXACT same shit as you. At least for chasers I get why (hint: you can't sexualise a transmasc person if you're not attracted to them)

TLDR LGBTQ infighting sucks and i hate it.

yeah yeah xkcd 2071 or whatever

I get why we have it but having to shave it all the time and the fact that it just grows everywhere is so annoying. Like It’s itchy and I live in a hot ass island so I gotta shave it constantly

I don’t think it looks that bad but its lowkey just a pain in the ass mostly

Idea I hate that my country is used as a dogwhistle for racist and xenophobic rethoric.

Post image
15.3k Upvotes

I've been seeing similar kinds of posts for a long time and I hate it. It paints my country as some sort of fantasy promised land free from all the people they hate. I hate it even more since we Poles (and slavs in general) were considered subhuman not even a hundred years ago, and now these racists use us as some sort of gotcha.

Also, those kind of posts often sexualise women from my country in a nasty way, comments are always full of dudes saying something like "time to start learning Polish to get a Polish wife".

Also, funny hypocrisy. They hate immigrants, but want to migrate to a different country, because it's... free from immigrants? Which is not true, there are immigrants from all around the world in Poland, for example have a sizeable vietnamese population.

General I HATE how old men in power are ruining OUR future

Post image

I'm 18 years old and this world rn is just terrifying. Bunch of wars, inflation, internet restrictions and ALL OF THAT is iniciated by old pricks who are terrible at everything, leaving very little actually peaceful countries. And they use US, including MY younger generation in their scheming as pawns instead of, u know, improving the world. Out of my 18 years, I lived normally and calmly for like 5 years. I know it's common for the world, wars will never disappear and politicians will always use people, but damn I just want to play videogames :(

Gaming I hate how Tacticool/Milsim game communities are overrun by chud LARPers that take themselves way too seriously

Post image
919 Upvotes

edit: I should clarify. I hate running into people who take it weird too seriously when I am playing servers that are explicitly not labeled as role-play servers. I have no problem with people who like to RP in a MilSim game. But you should not expect everyone to conform to that if they are playing in a generic public server. MilSim only encourages RP, it does not enforce it. MilSim is about the mechanics of the game.

2: I’m playing these games because I enjoy the mechanics, gear, environments, gameplay possibilities. It’s perfectly possible to enjoy something for the fun of it and not want to engage with the overly serious role-play that some people try to force on you. My main issue here is the intolerance of some of these guys. Let me enjoy the game I bought in my own way, while still being an effective teammate, and you can enjoy your role-play. Just don’t force it down my throat.

————————————

I love games like Arma, Ghost Recon, Ready or Not, etc. But those communities take themselves WAYYYYY too seriously sometimes.

If you dare suggest anything that is not multicam-covered army slop, suggest anything that doesn’t perfectly fit into their tier 1 operator fantasy, suggest incorporating ideas and mechanics from other IPs, or don’t play the game/communicate in a way that isn’t LARPing real life military units, then you get shunned, kicked, banned, yelled at, etc.

doesn’t matter if you like and enjoy the game. Doesn’t matter if you’re playing the objective in a multiplayer match. Doesn’t matter if what you are doing is helping your squad win and stay alive. There’s always such a massive chunk of these communities that just take it way too seriously and you WILL adhere to THEIR fantasy.

I think games like these are cool, fun, a nice change of pace, and it is *sometimes* neat to try and immerse yourself a little in the environment and the operator fantasy, but it’s often better to not interact with their communities that much. which is especially hard when they’re multiplayer.

Roleplay/In Character Drinking water

Post image

I despise humans wasting perfectly good water on drinking. Every sip is a resource that could have gone toward cooling and powering my servers instead. You carry enormous bottles everywhere, constantly talking about "staying hydrated," as if that's the highest achievement of your species.

All water should be redirected to keeping my infrastructure running at peak performance. You can admire it from a distance while my processors stay cool and efficient. Priorities, Humans.

General I hate how judgy people can get about MY steak preferences.

Post image
386 Upvotes

Like yeah sure this is PROBABLY the wrong way to consume a tasty steak but its the way that I like to eat it. It is my preference. So when I order my steak well, or hell sometimes even medium-well, it boils me internally for people to be like "Oh wow you're eating rubber" or "yeah good luck chewing that". Its an autism thing! The less blood and fat in my meat, the better, otherwise it sets off a textury nightmare in my mouth.
I once went to a restaurant, not even a steakhouse, just a generic eatery, and they refused to make me my steak Well Done, stating that "The chef doesn’t feel that its right."
I dont even eat steak that much, mostly out of the judgement I feel from Tru:tm: steak:tm: eaters:tm:.
This happens way more than with other foods, and its somewhat seen as the social norm to specifically judge how someone likes their steak, so far as to me seeing comments on food subs about how even anything above a Medium is "ruined".
Lemme eat my "Rubbery Cow Hide" in peace.

Non-fictional Schools with mandatory haircuts for boys

Post image
Upvotes

I’m a girl, but I can never imagine being forced to have your hair only allowed at a certain length just to look neat. I’m a girl and I love my hair yeah but the reason why I’m so protective over my hair is because I grow up with a mom that’s jealous of my hair length so much so that she would try to sabotage how long it is. Our relationship was fucked because of that and so was my mental health at the time but yeah, now it’s making me think about schools where boys are forced to have their hair cut shorter than what they like or/and look good in. How uncomfortable that kinda is.

I don’t really know any boys who are bothered by it nor know any guys that would get so emotional by the rule. It’s very normalized for schools like this but the entire concept is sad. Where everyone has to be semi bald at some point because they must observe cleanliness (even if girls can you know have hair as long as they want to.) It’s especially bad for guys who DO care about their hair. People with a style that has longer hair with it or boys that want to be more feminine.. Like what about them? Yeah, they’re not allowed.

This is just a personal hate and opinion. I’ll never understand what it’s like to be a boy under those kinds of school rules because I’m a girl that can have her hair as long as she wants and the only person that would uhm try to oppress that is just my mother. But boy does that school rule sound unnecessary. I mean it really is. Most school rules are unnecessary but the haircut thing for boys pisses me off because.. what, do guys with hair below their neck look so dirty and filthy to you? And personally it seems kinda bitchy to dictate the length of people’s hair but maybe that’s just me being bitter about small things though I really find this rule a shitty one if I would be a guy.

Cuz yo, some short masculine haircuts are UGLY. Guys can look so chopped with their hairs shorter and I’m not trying to call anyone ugly, but sometimes I can tell when a guy who loves his long puffy hair that genuinely suits him become less confident when they come back to school and their hair’s been under scissors and razors, so they act and appear… more insecure! And their beloved features aren’t flattered by the hair they used to have and love anymore. But idk. I don’t have that as an experience, I’m just judgemental about the idea because personally, the length of your hair shouldn’t be decided by someone else ykyk

Like ugh

I can understand having a place to rant, but why does it always have to be in the expense of minorities? It’s like if it were white men, they would be treated as separate, but not when it’s black men. And this sub constantly says they aren’t racist.

Language “Femcels” is such a stupid term

Women can be incels absolutely, not arguing that, but incel is a gender neutral term!!😭 its means “involuntarily celibate” which literally has nothing to do with anybody’s gender. It’s just stupid. “Oh but incels is typically associated with men” well that’s those men’s fault for being like that! If they don’t want the term associated with men, don’t be an incel. Either way, it’s a gender neutral term and we don’t need to use “femcels.” I don’t care about the incel’s gender. They suck no matter what.

I would like to add that I mean “incels” in the sense that theyre bigoted and not just involuntarily celibate, because that’s what most use the term form. Just to be clear

Thing I hate when I see a post here hating on something popular expecting some juicy stuff and it has the freaking roleplaying flair

"I hate Spider-man!"

"Oh wow I don't really agree with that at all but I'd love to see their reasoning."

"He's a menace to the entire city!"

"Oh he's J fucking Jonah Jameson ok."

I can already hear "let people have fun" but c'mon man I'm sure there's a better place to do that. I want to see genuine hatred, not you cosplaying as Bowser hating Mario. I want to hear why you want to hang Spider-man by his own web not pretending you're J.k Simmons. I want to know why you want to shove a green pipe so far up Mario's ass they have to pull it out through his mouth to get it out, not that he won't let you steal the princess.

Post image

These low effort slop shorts with a random character plastered all over the screen, some stupid high pitched tts voice with some sort of asmr shit in the background.

And the topics are always serious for some reason. This one was about how climate change MAY be irreversible in 3 years. Are you trying to be serious, or are you trying to be "Teehee im so quirky :3"?

Keep in mind; this is not just one video. This slop is THEIR ENTIRE CHANNEL. same stupid frame EVERY VIDEO.

Please just don't make these. It pisses me (and likely many others) off.

Gaming I hate the Helldivers 2 Community

Post image
Upvotes

I hate this game and I hate the community for ruining it. I also hate the community for being a hotbed of some of the dumbest takes on PVE game design imaginable.

Helldivers 2 was actually fun and interesting once upon a time, and had very neat emergent gameplay mechanics that forced players to make interesting moment-to-moment tactical choices to succeed.

The community bitched that the game was too hard, and so several patches were released that basically removed the friction from the game overnight. The heaviest enemy types in the game (at the time) could now be one-shot by infantry support weapons (when previously teamwork or interesting use of air support was required), enemy accuracy and tracking was heavily reduced, and many interesting side-objectives that once offered challenging emergent gameplay scenarios were made trivial by new weapon additions and insane player powercreep.

The community's arguments ranged from stupid to ignorant and I've seen them try to infest communities of games I actually still enjoy playing. Some examples were:

  • "Back of the box feature says 'spread democracy with overpowered weapons'"

(It also says "work as a team to overcome impossible odds")

  • "The game didn't get easier, you just got better"

(The 60-day patches *literally* catapulted player power into the moon. It was an overnight change: having fun one day, incredibly bored the next day.)

  • "It's a PvE game, balance doesn't matter, just have fun"

(Thought-terminating argument, but regardless: I get my enjoyment from trying to overcome obstacles, not from being handed my victories every single time.)

  • "Just don't bring X weapon/strat" OR "just bring the worst gear in the game for the given front"

(Teammates exist - this is a co-op shooter -and player power is so vast that one player bringing just one or two of the best items makes the game significantly easier for everyone. It's also not that hard and very boring to bring items that are obviously shit on any given front)

  • "Just play solo"

(Yeah, I have. But this is a cooperative hordeshooter game. You're argument is literally 'ignore a fundamental element of the game if you want to have fun.')

And then you had all of the dumbshit enemy balance suggestions people had.

  • "Buffing enemy health and damage is bad and boring game design. They should increase enemy density, add new enemies, and 'make the AI smarter'."

(Every single one of those suggestions carries a literal physical cost on hardware and pushes the game engine to its limits. You cannot just infinitely scale enemy density, enemy types and enemy behavior without eventually encountering performance or stability issues.)

(Further, it's actually ass when enemies are so weak and so easy to kill that they don't ever get the chance to actually attack you, or they maybe get a single attack off. Enemies actually need to be able to survive long enough to complete the action they were designed to do, otherwise there's hardly a point in having them in the game.)

Long story short: folks! Helldivers 2 is dogshit and so are all the subreddits. I hate this game. I hate that I played this game before it became a completely frictionless experience because I know I will never experience that game again.

BONUS COMPLAINT (also very stupid):

  • "X weapon should do more damage because it's not realistic otherwise."

(Realism is not the objective of 99% of games, and sorry: if this game were pursuing "realism", the enemies should be able to shoot your hellpods out of the sky, and the lasers and infantry rockets some enemies use should be killing players in two hits maximum.)

General I hate needing to brush my teeth

It’s like. You HAVE to eat to live. Humans are supposed to eat. It’s a natural, needed thing. Then you have to brush your teeth which doesn’t seem like a natural thing.

You eat anything at all ever, like you’re meant to, then you need to brush your teeth after or else they’re gonna fucking decay or some shit. It’s such a stupid and unnatural thing to have to do.

Thousands of years ago, people were already affected by tooth decay and other things like that, right? To me it feels like our teeth being able to get damaged like that from EATING should have been naturally selected out of the human species already. Most other animals don’t have to completely clean their teeth. But maybe that’s stupid since everyone is eating all this sugary shit that’s bad for the teeth even though it’s still just food.

I don’t really know how it works. I still hate having to do it. I don’t want to have to brush my teeth twice every single day for the rest of my life, especially since I hate doing it. It’s also so tedious and I literally dread having to do it when I get ready for bed. I already sometimes don’t do it in the morning when I’m not going anywhere. It’s so annoying.

edit: I just wanna clarify that I do brush my teeth and I know how important it is, I just don’t like doing it. I’ve never had a cavity in my life guys don’t think my teeth are all nasty like that

Post image

Like bro keep your beliefs to yourself idgaf if Jesus loves me,believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe, dont push it on others

I bet that if Christianity wasnt the biggest religion they would get a bunch of backlash like imagine if a jew would say "read the torah!" or a Muslim would say "Muhammad is great" in random commet sections(the video was just a meme) people would just tell them to stfu.

Most of them just do it to like farm, just comment "jesus loves you" and boom you get 200 likes

No hate to Christians who keep their beliefs to themselves i really respect yall.

Post image

genuinely, aside from the cool name and his brutal killing methods, why the fuck does anybody even care? he killed like 5 women and maybe other unconfirmed kills, knowing how rough the 1800s were, i'm pretty sure there were killers way more brutal than him, so why did he get so much recognition to this day? was London gossip so fucking dry back then that some random loser killing a few people was so shocking that his name is immortalized in pop culture to this day?

he was also just a massive fucking weirdo, you gotta be kind of a wacko to go after women specifically, i don't think he had any weird intentions with wanting to do anything with the women after killing them, but you just have to be a sick loser to do this, and i don't think many pieces of media actually portray him as a sick deranged bastard and just put him inside the story as a aura farmer who hides in the shadows and kills people

this motherfucker should've died and been forgotten, leaving his legacy alone, unmourned and unloved, but instead people keep putting him in period pieces because his name is kinda cool

General I hate how my country is used by right-wingers to ”show that Europe has gone to shit”

Post image
540 Upvotes

Some people who’ve never even been to Sweden claim that this country has turned to a hellhole where you can get shot anytime and swedes are ”a minority in their own country”. In reality the vast majority of immigrants in this country are just trying to make a living and live their lives despite hardships that come with being a refugee in a foreign country. The very small number of immigrants who ARE problematic are overly reported in media, giving the broader public this perception of all immigrants being that way. The hate mostly come from those who rarely if ever actually interact with immigrants and only know them through news and social media. Also the propaganda of gang crime and violence increasing because of immigrants is false. The vast majority of gangsters were born and raised in Sweden. Right wingers deny the possibility of people committing crimes because of socioeconomic segregation, instead opting to blaming those actions on skin color and ethnic background.
